Tiger vs. Jack total Majors

So VD and I have a friendly bet on total majors.

He says Tiger will beat Jack's lifetime total majors by Tiger's 40th birthday.

I say he won't. We have $150 riding on the bet.

Tiger has 4.5 years until he turns 40 on Dec 30 2015. He would have to
win 5 majors to break Jack's record of 18.

Who do y'all think has the best side of this wager?

I'd side with VD on this. Tiger is much the best when his game is going strong and I think it comes back at some point in the next few years.

Looking at all of these talented long hitting young studs now on the tour, even if Tiger gets his game back, it's going to be a dogfight to beat these guys. If it was 10 years ago, I would say he would have no problem getting those 5 majors. But the 2011 tour is much stronger and more athletic than it was in 2000. Bubba Watson, Quiros, McCilroy, Fowler, Kim are only going to get better.

I am sure 5 team parlay can find it, but I said before the Divorce Tiger wouldn't break Jack's record.

In sports, there is a dramatic decline in ability/talent after an athlete reaches his 30s. Tiger will not break Jack's record.

Nicklaus won 3 majors after turning 40. So technically if Tiger wins 2 more before his 40th then he's ahead of Nicklaus' pace.

What happened with Nicklaus was when he won the Masters at age 46, he hadn't won a major in 6 years. And everything had to go absolutely right for him that day, and he had to hope every golfer on the leaderboard above him faltered. And they did. My point is, there have been golfers who have won majors in their early 40's. But not many beyond that age. So realistically, Tiger has about 6 or 7 years to win 5 majors. And it will probably take him the rest of this year into next year before he really gets his game back, if he ever does. After that he'll have to average winning a major every year to get it done. And hope he doesn't get any more injuries along the way, and things go positive in his personal life. I'm not saying it can't be done. It definitely can by somebody with his talent and drive. But things have to go right for him. And he can't have anymore fuk-ups.

true but his back isnt gonna go out as soon and his joints will hold up. As far as the game being more mental than physical I %100 agree, and Tiger has the hands down BEST mental game on the course.

It will be interesting to see if Tiger's putting holds up on the back nine. If it does, I think he's got a great chance to win, or at least get into a playoff.
